Our Services

 The West Carleton Family Health Team offers a wide range of health care services to our patients. The list below outlines some of the most popular services.
  • Preventative medical care: using the best available evidence, we provide information and resources for patients to maintain good health and prevent disease
  • Well-baby and well-child care (developmental assessments)
  • ​Periodic health assessments (replaced the Annual Physical) - see FAQ
  • Complete physical examinations, as required for the diagnosis of complex symptoms
  • Immunizations: All childhood vaccinations and adult boosters, annual flu shots, pneumonia shots (when indicated by age or medical condition), hepatitis A and B (on prescription), TB skin testing, and Tetanus Diptheria
  • Prenatal and obstetrical care has been provided by the physicians for more than 25 years with deliveries at the Queensway-Carleton Hospital
  • Supportive and educational counselling or referral to appropriate resources following an assessment
  • Medication reviews and counselling by a pharmacist
  • Allergy Shots are provided during regular office hours
  • Treatment of warts, minor skin lesions and “sun-damaged” spots
  • Minor emergencies including suturing of lacerations
  • Pulmonary Function Testing
  • Newborn Circumcision
  • Weekend urgent care clinic on Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm for urgent medical concerns.
  • Online Patient Health Portal for messaging with the healthcare provider, accessing lab results, viewing upcoming and past appointments, booking appointments, renewing prescriptions, printing immunization records and more.

Smoking Cessation

Our smoking cessation program offers counselling support and Nicotine Replacement Therapy at no cost to patients who want to quit smoking.

Urgent Care Clinic

Weekend clinic for urgent medical needs. It is intended for health issues that arise suddenly that cannot wait until regular weekday office hours. WCFHT patients only.

Nutrition Counselling

Nutrition counselling by a registered dietitian is available to all patients. To book an appointment, call us or ask your healthcare provider

Innovative and secure online tool available to all WCFHT patients free of charge. Message your healthcare provider, book appointments, view lab results and more.

Obstetrics

We provide obstetrical care (care during your pregnancy and delivery) to patients who already have a family physician in the community as well as those who do not.

Mental Health

Individual, couple, or family therapy, memory assessments, and group workshops are available to patients. Talk to your healthcare provider if you would like to be referred.

Practical group workshops on various topics of interest. Workshops are designed to improve personal resources for health behaviour change and overall wellbeing

Flu Shots

The annual flu vaccine is given at pharmacies along with community clinics. The WCFHT typically receives the vaccine in late fall and will contact patients once available. 

Uninsured Services

Some medical services provided by WCFHT are not covered by the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP).

In these cases the patient will be required to pay for these services, when given. They may submit the invoice to their own insurance plan for reimbursement, if applicable.
