Vaccines are very important to help reduce, or in some cases even eliminate diseases that have caused illness, disability or death in earlier generations. In Canada, vaccines are now a routine part of healthcare and support the maintenance of overall health. Regular immunization is an ongoing part of patient care and supported by physicians and staff at the West Carleton Family Health Team. We encourage our patients to get immunized to prevent illness from common and preventable diseases when a vaccine is available.
Our team provides immunizations, allergy shots, and routine prescribed injections such as B12. Book your appointment online through the Patient Portal.
We do not routinely carry the vaccines usually offered in grade 7 such as Meningococcal, HPV and Hepatitis B vaccines. Ottawa Public Health holds frequent Community Vaccination Clinics for missed immunizations where they carry these and many more vaccines. Please book with them if these are the vaccines that are needed. If you live outside of the Ottawa Public Health region, check out your Health Unit's website for information on community vaccination/catch-up clinics. Please note: If you or your child has had any immunization at a location other than the WCFHT (e.g. pharmacy or school), it is important that you help us update your record by informing our staff. You can provide this information through the Immunization Reporting Form Qnaire in the UpPatient app, or by informing our nurse over the phone or at your next visit.
