Flu shots

The typical “Flu Season” in Canada may begin as early as October and can last until May. Each year, the Ontario Ministry of Health offers and recommends the flu shot to everyone aged 6 months and older.

Influenza is a serious illness that can lead to complications such as pneumonia, hospitalization and sometimes even death.  The flu shot is safe and is the most effective way to protect you and your family from the flu.

Getting immunized is especially important for people who are at greater risk of developing complications from the flu.  People in close contact or those who live with people at high risk of complications should also get immunized as early as possible.

Remember, you need a flu shot every year.

The flu shot is especially important for:
  • People with weakened immune systems
  • Young children
  • Adults aged 65 and older
  • Pregnant women
  • Family members and those who provide care to people in the above groups should also get the flu shot to protect themselves and those around them

Each Fall once we receive the flu vaccine, we will send out an email to our patients reminding them to book an appointment. We then encourage patients to book their flu shot appointment by calling the office at (613) 839-3271.

If you receive the flu shot at another location, please help us update your records by calling the office (613) 839-3271 and leaving a message on extension 117. State your name, phone number, the location you had the flu shot, and the approximate date of your immunization.

Thank you for helping us keep our community healthy!
