Osteoporosis is characterized by low bone mass which increases the risk of bone fracture. At least 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men will break a bone due to osteoporosis in their lifetime. Osteoporosis can be prevented and managed with a healthy diet, regular exercise and in some cases supplements or medication.
