Nutrition

Please note this program is temporarily on hold as the position remains vacant.

The West Carleton FHT offers counselling in nutrition by a registered dietitian. Registered dietitians are regulated health professionals who promote health and wellbeing through good nutrition and healthy eating habits. They work collaboratively with the client to establish a plan for healthy eating and tailor advice to meet the client’s personal needs and challenges. The dietitian supports clients with questions concerning:

  • General healthy eating
  • Reading nutrition labels
  • Sports nutrition
  • Prenatal nutrition
  • Chronic disease management (e.g. diabetes, high blood pressure, celiac disease)
  • Weight management
  • Malnutrition
  • Food allergies/sensitivities
  • Vitamin & mineral deficiencies
  • Irritable bowel syndrome
  • Support with meal preparation and planning

The dietitian also leads the Introduction to Solid Foods and Craving Change workshops.

This service is offered free of charge and is available to all patients enrolled with a WCFHT family physician or nurse practitioner. To book an appointment, ask your healthcare provider for a referral or self-refer by calling 613-839-3271.
