Low-FODMAP Diet
If you are interested in doing the low-FODMAP elimination diet, it is recommended to do so with the guidance of a Registered Dietitian for the best results. Ask your doctor for a referral to speak with our Dietitian about dietary support for your symptoms.

The low-FODMAP diet is a temporary elimination diet used for people with IBS who are looking to identify trigger foods. It is not a diet for long term use, and individuals should not stay on it long term as it is not nutritionally adequate for long term health.

FODMAPs stands for fermentable oligosaccharides, disaccharides, monosaccharides and polyols. These are carbohydrates in food that are not fully digested and can trigger IBS symptoms in many people with IBS.

The degree of restriction of FODMAPs for the elimination diet can vary, and can be customized to an individual's known intolerances, current ability to drastically change their diet and how severe their symptoms are. There are simplified versions of the low FODMAP diet that are based on eliminating only the highest sources of FODMAPs in the diet rather than limiting almost all possible sources.
