Dr. Rachael Adams, Bsc, MD, CCFP
Dr. Rachael Adams received her undergraduate degree from McGill University in Biology. She graduated from Queen’s University medical school in 2008, and completed her Family Medicine residency training at the University of Ottawa in 2010.
Rachel has a special interest in low-risk obstetrics.
Francois Cameron, CCPA, CD, BDM
Francois obtained his Physician Assistant degree at the Canadian Forces Medical Academy in 2006. He worked as a medical technician for 14 years prior to taking the course. He has worked as a clinician, clinic manager and was responsible for a physiotherapy department for the special forces from 2006-2009. He is currently certified with the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants (CAPA).
Francois has a special interest in sports medicine, acute and chronic disease management, procedure, and minor surgery.
Dr. Ewa Ciechanska, BSc, MSc, MD, CCFP
Dr. Ciechanska received her undergraduate degree from the University of Calgary, in Cellular Biology in 1999. She went on to complete a Master’s degree at the University of Calgary in Genetics. Ewa graduated from the University of Western Ontario’s Schulich School of Medicine in 2005 and finished her residency in Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa, Civic Campus in 2007.
Ewa enjoys all aspects of family medicine and has a special interest in low risk obstetrics.
Dr. Amanda Connell, Bsc, MD, CCFP
Dr. Connell received her Bachelor of Science (Chemistry) at the University of Western Ontario in 1993. She received her medical degree from the University of Ottawa in 1997 and completed her residency in Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa, and the Civic Hospital in 1999. She is certified with the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
She has spent several years working in Locum positions in Northern Ontario and the Ottawa region.
Originally from Britain (hence the accent) and now proud to call herself Canadian, Dr. Connell enjoys all aspects of family practice.
Dr. Jeanette Dionne, BScH, MD, CCFP, FCFP
Dr. Dionne is originally from Nova Scotia and attended Acadia University obtaining a degree in biology and chemistry. She then attended Dalhousie Medical School and graduated in 1994 and completed her family practice residency at Queens University.
She has since been roaming North America having worked in Kingston, ON, Norwalk, OH and Berwick, NS before settling in Ottawa.
Dr. Karen Ferguson, BSc, MD, CCFP, FCFP
Dr. Ferguson received her Bachelor of Science (1993) and MD (1997) from Queen’s University. She subsequently completed a residency in Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa in 1999. She holds a Fellowship in Women’s Health and Obstetrics and is a Certificant and Fellow of the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
Dr. Mark Fraser, BSc, MD, CCFP, FCFP
Dr. Fraser attended Carleton University to complete a Bachelor of Science (Hon.) in Chemistry (1977) followed by the University of Ottawa where he completed Medical School (1981). He did his residency in Family Medicine at the University of Toronto and Sunnybrook Hospital in 1983. He is a Certificant with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP) and a Fellow with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (FCFP).
Dr. Fraser’s special interests are in medical informatics, chronic disease management and health promotion.
Dr. Michelle Lawler, BA(hon), MD, CFPC, FCFP
Dr. Lawler specializes in Family Practice Obstetrics at the Queensway Carleton Hospital and teaches for the University of Ottawa Family Medicine Department.
Dr. Kathy McBride, BScH, MD, CCFP, FCFP
Dr. McBride received her undergraduate degree from Queen’s University in Biology and Psychology in 1993 and completed Medical School in her birth province at the University of British Columbia in 1997. She completed her residency at the University of Ottawa and liked the city so much that she decided to stay.
Dr. McBride enjoys all aspects of family medicine from newborn care to geriatrics.
Dr. Lisa Rosenkrantz, BSc (Hon.) Psychology, MD, CCFP, FCFP
Dr. Rosenkrantz attended McMaster University for Medical School (1979) where she also completed her residency in Family Medicine in 1981. She is a Fellow in the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
Her special interests include: delivering babies, coaching healthy choices, chronic disease management, palliative care, and end of life care in the home.
Dr. Robert Stecher, MBBCh, CCFP
Dr. Stecher graduated from Medical School at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa in 1993. He received extra training in pediatrics and child health as well as respiratory medicine and then transitioned into emergency medicine where he worked full time until relocating to Dauphin, Manitoba in 1997. In Dauphin he worked at the Dauphin Medical Clinic and Dauphin Regional Health Center until July 2010. He relocated to Ottawa in August 2010 and joined our team in 2011.
Dr. Stecher’s special interests include delivering high quality and accessible health care to his patient population.
Dr. Kristen Tonon, BSc, MD, CCFP
Dr. Kristen Tonon received her undergraduate degree from McMaster University in Biology and Psychology. She remained at McMaster for medical school (1999) where she also completed her residency in Family Medicine in 2001.
Kristen joined our team a short time later, where she enjoys all aspects of family practice.
Dr. Eugene Vigneron, MD, CCFP, FCFP
Dr. Vigneron completed Medical School at the University of Toronto in 1992, and residency in Family Medicine at the University of Ottawa and the Civic Hospital in 1994. He currently is a Certificant with the College Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP), a Fellow with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (FCFP), and is Board Certified with the American Board Family Medicine (ABFP).
Eugene has a special interest in chronic disease management and health promotion.
Deidra Chipman, BSc.HK, BSc.HN, CDE, RD
Deidra is a Registered Dietitian (R.D.) and Certified Diabetes Educator (C.D.E.). She attended St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia where she received Bachelor of Science degrees in Human Nutrition as well as Human Kinetics. Deidra completed her dietetic internship with Capital Health in Halifax. She works to support patients in making healthy dietary changes to improve their overall health and wellness.
Sylvia Chan BScPhm, RPh
Sylvia is a clinical Pharmacist at the West Carleton Family Health Team. She completed her Bachelors of Science in Pharmacy at University of Toronto and has been with the team since 2006. She works part-time at Bruyere Pharmacy which helps keep her informed of current community pharmacy topics. Previously, she has worked at the Queensway Carleton Hospital, Elisabeth Bruyere Residence Long-term care, and NIHB Drug Exception Centre, but Sylvia’s passion is with primary care. Sylvia’s interests include chronic disease management, deprescribing in the elderly and resolving drug-related problems.
Tatiana Serguchtchenko, RN(EC)
Tatiana graduated from the Primary Health Care Nurse Practitioner program at the University of Ottawa in 2007. She has a special interest in disease prevention and chronic disease management.
Michelle Wasser, RN(EC)
Michelle obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Western Ontario in 1999. She worked at the Hospital for Sick Children in the NICU and as a Nurse Educator in ENT, General Surgery and Orthopedics. She obtained her Masters Degree in Nursing at the University of Toronto in 2004. After moving to Ottawa, while working in the PICU at CHEO and teaching undergraduate nursing classes at the University of Ottawa, Michelle completed her Nurse Practitioner program in 2008. Michelle currently works at the WCFHT and for Ottawa Public Health in the Healthy Sexuality and Risk Reduction program.
Sarina Ghent, BSc, MPH, BScN, NP-PHC
Sarina graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with a minor in Gerontology from the University of Waterloo in 2003. She obtained a Master of Public Health at Lakehead University (2004) and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Toronto in 2006. Sarina worked in Pediatric Oncology at Sick Kids hospital in Toronto and a Pediatric ward in a hospital in New Zealand before moving to Ottawa to join the team at CHEO in 2008. Sarina completed her primary care nurse practitioner certificate in 2012 and joined the WCFHT in 2014.
Darlene Pierce, DNP, MN, NP-PHC
Darlene graduated from The University of Victoria’s inaugural cohort in 2005 as a Nurse Practitioner. She has since held NP positions in both emergency and primary care settings within different provinces and in the USA. Darlene received her Doctorate Degree in Nursing Practice from the University of Minnesota in 2012. She enjoys the challenging nature of Primary Care and working with clients and their families of all ages.
Brenda Halabisky, MSc, FNP-C, NP-PHC
Brenda received her undergraduate degree in nursing at the University of Manitoba, an Outpost Nursing certificate at Dalhousie University and her graduate degree at the University of North Dakota. She is currently pursuing PhD studies at the University of Ottawa, researching the Nurse Practitioner role in community palliative care. Brenda also coordinates online continuing education course development at the University of Ottawa and is a part time professor in the primary care nurse practitioner graduate program. She enjoys all aspects of providing wellness, acute and chronic illness care across all ages.
Andrea Thomas, MSW, RSW
Andrea is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). She received a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Waterloo in 1984. She then completed her Bachelor and Master of Social Work degrees from McGill University (1986 and 1991). Prior to joining the WCFHT in 2015, Andrea worked as a Bilingual Counsellor at a local Family Service Agency for over 20 years providing counselling to individuals, couples, families and groups. Andrea is an experienced generalist and provides counselling regarding a wide variety of issues, including: adjustment to changes in mental and physical health, managing anxiety and depression, relationship issues, intimate partner abuse and family violence issues, parenting concerns, adjusting to separation and divorce, and bereavement issues.
Dr. Robyn Marquis, C.Psych.
Robyn is a Clinical Psychologist and registered member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario. She received her Undergraduate and Masters of Education in Counselling Psychology Degrees at Western University, and her PhD in Clinical Psychology at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Marquis is trained in cognitive-behaviour, experiential, emotionally-focused and interpersonal therapies. She believes success in therapy depends on the client-therapist fit and, therefore, works collaboratively with her clients, from a strengths-based perspective, to provide services that will best meet the client’s individual needs.
Dr. Marquis has a special interest in working with children, adolescents, adults, couples and families who have experienced maltreatment (abuse, neglect), trauma, depression, anxiety, emotional and behavioural disruptions, relational difficulties and social-skills problems. She also has experience providing group therapy, and psychological and psycho-educational assessments.
Dr. Barbara Armstrong, C.Psych.
Barbara is a Clinical Psychologist, licensed by the College of Psychologists of Ontario.
